About the club

HTBC RY is Helsinki’s all-time most successful Thai boxing club. We are the only club in Helsinki investing heavily into women’s and men’s competing and development. As a result of that, some of the best practitioners in Finland and Europe are training with us, many of whom already have experience in world championships and even gold medals. Of the women currently training in our competition group 3/4 belong to the national Thai boxing team of Finland, and half of the men are competing on an international level. Our club is the only one in Finland that offers Thai boxing training 7 nights a week in 7 different training groups. With a 6 month training pass when you’re training e.g. 3 times a week, the price for one training session comes up to only 2.50€! With a valid training pass you can train in instructor-led courses as often as you want.

If you’re interested in participating in the training only as a hobby or to stay in shape, our club also offers you the best selection in town: after the basic course you can move to lady thai or technique group, where the training is geared towards, besides improving your technique, to keep you in shape WITHOUT contact in training.

Welcome to our basic course!

Treeniajat suomeksi

Alkeiskurssi (Basic course)

In the thai boxing basic course you will learn the basic techniques and improve your stamina and conditioning. The course is approx. 8 weeks and is meant for men and women over 13 years of age.

The training includes no sparring nor contact, just technical training with bags and pads. You should wear a t-shirt and training pants or shorts, shoes aren’t necessary. Bringing your own drinking bottle and a jumping rope is also recommended.

In the basic course it’s not necessary to purchase official training gear, but later on you’ll benefit from getting bag gloves and mouth guard.

After the basic course you’re able continue training 7 nights a week including two morning workouts. Those interested in competing can have their first fight in 6 months after starting their basic course. If you’re more into improving your conditioning, you can continue training in one of three different groups.

Thaiboxing 2

This group includes no sparring, but there can be contact. The technique group is meant for practitioners, who are not interested in sparring and want to concentrate on mastering the techniques of muay thai and improve their conditioning.

Full gear required: helmet, shin guards, mouth guard, gloves, elbow pads, groin guard

Thaiboxing 1

This group is a combination of previous Kilparyhmä (competing group) and Haastajat (challenging group). Focus of the training is on sparring and the group is ideal for those wanting to compete in muay thai.

Full gear required: helmet, shin guards, mouth guard, gloves, elbow pads, groin guard

Ladythai

Lady thai is a fitness sport developed specifically for women. You’ll burn fat and get in shape. Joining the group require first taking the basic course. The training doesn’t pay close attention to using the correct techniques, what counts is high pace and tempo, but still employing thai boxing moves. As an added bonus to a tight body you’ll also acquire basic self defense skills.

The training involves no sparring nor contact, but includes a lot of training with bags and pads and conditioning.

Edustusryhmä (Representing group)

In this group all our most successful fighters train together with the only professional world thai boxing champion in the capital area, Petri Martinez. The fighters are preparing for national and international level competitions.

In the representing group the tempo can be extremely high, so to train here you’ll have to possess the required attributes.

The fighters to join this group are selected by Petri Martinez.

  1. Moi Aleksi,

    Terv.,

    • Yes. Teachers teach the main class in Finnish for practical reasons, but you can ask them about training in English as well when they go around the gym during the session. We have a number of non-Finnish speaking trainees at the gym.

You can also, on a more informal note, ask your partner or the person next to you (although language skills cannot be guaranteed).

      • Thank you very much :)

I have just come over the m@il adress, so i guess, i will just ask further questions via e-m@il.
